15 Oct 2007 - Historic Scotland Skills Day
S2 pupils - Kevin McCulloch, Laura Smith, Danielle Hamilton, Ciara McAleenan, Alison Savage & Dominic McGrandles - accompanied by Mr David Welsh, Technical Teacher, recently attended a Skills Day organised by Historic Scotland and Careers Scotland.
The day began with a presentation in Stirling Castle followed by a tour of restoration works within the castle under the guidance of one of the on-site architectural technicians.
Following this, the pupils were given a chance to try their hand at the skills on show which included: stonemasonry, leadwork, joinery and slating - all under the guidance of Historic Scotland craftsmen. The day was a huge success with pupils throwing themselves wholeheartedly into each challenge and gaining a valuable insight into how our local heritage is maintained.
