Parent Council

Recent changes in legislation have resulted in a change to the way parents can get involved in their children's education and school. The Scottish Schools (Parental Involvement) Act of 2006 resulted in the abolition of Scottish School Boards to be replaced by Parent Councils. Each Parent Council will be made up of parents & staff in addition to co-opted members as required and the Head Teacher (as professional adviser).

The newly established Parent Council has duties, rights and responsibilities relating to the management of the school.

St Modan's Parent Council has its own constution which was agreed at the inaugural meeting on Tuesday 28th August, 2007 and can be downloaded from the foot of this page.

Main functions of the Parent Council include ....

  • support the management of the school
  • make representations on our behalf
  • promote contact between the school and others
  • report on Parent Council activities
  • ascertain and report parent views

Minutes and Meetings: Meetings will be held at least twice per term. dates of meetings will be included on the school calendar and 'calendar of events' on the school website. An AGM will be held every April. Minutes of meetings will be made available through the school website and from the School Office. Download a copy from the foot of this page.
