SQA EXAMINATIONS 2009

SQA Exams Results day is:

Wednesday 5th August 2009

                                                www.mysqa.org.uk

Registation must take place no later than Thursday 16th July. You should have your Student Candidate Number (see top right of your personal timetable!) and your email address ready.

We hope that the results of your examinations are as expected, however where a candidate is awarded a lower grade than expected the SQA issues to presenting centres details of candidates that might be considered for appeals in their particular subjects.

Please note the following

·          The SQA advises centres which candidates should be considered for appeals.  The school has no influence over this decision and cannot add pupils to the list.

·        The success of an appeal is based on a range of evidence submitted by the Presenting Centre.  Although the result of the prelim examination forms part of this evidence, it is not necessarily the main focus of the appeal process.

·        Appeals are to be made only in circumstances where candidate have under performed by '2 or more' bands from their estimate (i.e. prelim result). The Faculty PT having identified those students will collate evidence of these students having performed at the estimated grade CONSISTENTLY OVER THE PERIOD OF THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

·        Parents may contact the School's SQA Co-ordinator, Mrs Wilkinson, if they wish help/advice regarding appeals. Requests for consideration for appeals must be according to the following deadlines:

If an URGENT APPEAL is required by a candidate in connection with an application to Higher or Further Education (College or University), the candidate is responsible for contacting the school to request such an appeal as soon as possible after receiving their certificate and certainly no later than Friday 7th August . Candidates must have details of their chosen institution and course for immediate processing.

Stage 1 Appeals for Advanced Higher & Higher Grades Candidates

no later than Friday 14th August 2009

Stage 2 Appeals for Intermediate 1 & 2 and Standard Grade Candidates

no later than Friday 21st August 2009

·        Parents may ask the school to process appeals on behalf of their son/daughter after these deadlines.  In this case the SQA levy a charge to parents of £55.00 per appeal to cover the additional costs incurred in processing the later appeal.

                                                       IMPORTANT DATES

Result of Stage 1 URGENT APPEALS ONLY - Friday 18th September '09

 Result of Stage 1 Appeals  (AH/H) - Thursday 24th September '09

Result of Stage 2 Appeals (SG/INT) - Friday 6th November '09

Candidates should see the Faculty PTs of the subject being appealed for to see if they have been successful.

The decision of the SQA regarding appeals is final.  If an appeal is successful the SQA will issue by post a new certificate to the candidate detailing such changes.
